Angels Egg - Gong

First of three albums in the Planet Gong trilogy; Angels Egg. Featuring plenty of Glissando guitar, as well as Space Whispers from Gilli Smyth as she takes Zero the Hero out behind the flipo side of the moon and shows him how captain capricorn has got the world of the humans in its clutches, and that the only chance is to  follow the way of the Pot Head Pixies.

Angel's Egg is an album by Gong, recorded and originally released on Virgin Records in 1973.

It was recorded using the Manor Mobile at Pavillon du Hay, France, and mixed at The Manor, Oxfordshire, England. The album was produced by Gong under the direction of Giorgio Gomelsky.

Angel's Egg is the second in Gong's Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy of albums, following Flying Teapot and preceding You. The trilogy forms a central part of the Gong mythology. The original album did not have an apostrophe in the title.

The original vinyl edition came with a booklet containing an extensive explanation of the mythology, including lyrics, a glossary of terms, and profiles of characters in the story and band members. This edition also had a gatefold cover (omitted in later pressings), a plain inky blue innersleeve to match the gatefold and booklet, and had the original black and white Virgin label that was discontinued after 1973; it was one of the last albums to use the original label. Some copies had a sticker over top of the female nude in the moon on the cover.

The CD version released by Charly Records contains an extra track: "Ooby-Scooby Doomsday or The D-day DJ's Got the D.D.T. Blues", that ends with a male voice choir glissando (questionably regarded by some as a parody on Pink Floyd's "Echoes"), starting with "Ahhhh" and ending with "Chooo", mimicking a sneeze. The track was originally released on the Live Etc. album but was excluded from the CD release (which reissued that double album as one disc), and included on this album instead.

Spirit 1968 (Full Album Download)

Spirit's self-titled debut album is one whose multifarious experimentalism owes a lot to the contemporary successes of The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Pink Floyd's The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. It marked the humble beginnings and grand aspirations of its eponymous authors. While the mindset required to produce Spirit was ubiquitous, the endeavour itself was far from clichéd. The eclecticism of Randy California's writing coupled Barrett's psychotropism with Morrison's West Coast bohemianism; and although the result proved somewhat inaccessible to the masses, it made the project ripe for underground FM airtime. The band would later curtail its psychedelia, focusing on a broader array of genres.

This release was published first by Ode records in 1968. It has since been reprinted by Sony–repackaged in compact-disc form and remastered from original analogue tapes. (Wikipedia)

The Flaming Lips are one of my favourite Cult Groups of the present era. Classed as a rock band i prefer to call them "Semi Psychedelic"

At War with the Mystics is the eleventh album by the Flaming Lips. It was released on April 3, 2006 in international markets, and April 4, 2006 in the United States. It includes a different mix of the song, "Mr. Ambulance Driver", which was originally used as part of the soundtrack to the 2005 film Wedding Crashers. The album is more guitar-driven, and lyrically political, than The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.

The track "It Overtakes Me" has gained considerable interest, being featured as the soundtrack to a UK television commercial for Beck's beer, and "The W.A.N.D." has been used in European adverts for Bud Light and for Dell Computers in the U.K. and the U.S.

"The Wizard Turns On..." won a 2006 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. The album was nominated for the Best Alternative Album Grammy. The 5.1 mix of the album was nominated for Best Surround Sound Album in 2008.

Space Ritual - Hawkwind classic space rock

Space Ritual - recorded 1972 and released the next year,

hawkwind's "Space Ritual" double live album included what

is now considered to be the Classic lineup of the band.

Hawkwind are the first and foremost of the Space

Rock/Acid Rock movement; pioneering in both sound and

stage performance.The content of their music is textually

both psychedelic in terms of the universe it portrays, and

inspiring to anyone looking towards cosmic consciousness

as an exit route to the hell of everyday worldly banality. But

seriously folks (seriously?), Hawkwind's lyrics have both

enormity of meaning in the content and prose in the way

that poetic intermissions are inserted between some songs as

a 'Waypaving' for the mind to be in the right state and

thinking of the right thing when the main song begins.This is

part of the journey you partake in when you become a

dedicated passenger of spaceship hawkwind (a fan).
Hawkwind were largely responsible for the survival into the

seventies of the countercultural idealism that was born in the

sixties. Constantly performing live concerts and "Gigs"

(including five days playing for free outside of the isle of

wight festival in 1970).

A Hawkwind concert was not just a sonic experience;

Hawkwind were one of the first and few artists to use

"Multimedia performance" in those days, complimenting

your trip with visual effects and projections, smoke and

special sound effects, costumes and support artists such as

fire breathers & jugglers.
For me this album (along with Warrior on the edge of Time - 1974), encapsulates the spirit of Hawkwind...ancient spirits, spacecraft, reincarnation, Pleiadeian concepts fuelled by an inclination to the cosmology of ancient Egyptian lore in a kind of Futuristic Pyramid flying saucer infested galaxy inhabited by Lords of Time and perception known as the Hawklords.
The Hawklords and the message contained in the music of Hawkwind has become almost a religion so to speak.



Their music inpires both the journey into inner and also outer space. Futuristic, Ancient, spiritual...Cosmic.
A message to wake up and remember something we may have forgotten is subtly suggested behind many a hawkwind lyric, suggesting that the latest rumours of the alleged Nibiru/Planet - X prophecy may have some foundation in truth after all.
They averaged about one concert avery three days in the first years.

The album Space Ritual was a classic acid-rock masterpiece.

Delving into lyrical profundity with songs like the paradox-stirring 'Space is Deep", or the ancient bards and future prophecy wielding "Seven by Seven", stirring visions of druidic forefathers mounting their flying discs and zapping off into a far future that we cannot yet even begin to imagine...a certain beckoning sensation is recieved on the hearing end of this sonic message that is filtering through the annals of time using this cosmic poem as a medium.

This album evokes sensations of worlds that are both psychic/spiritual and at the same time technological. Futuristic Utopian Empires are envisioned as the synthesized effects and Cosmic-Egyptian guitar riffs enter the ears of the listener to reside as a visual emanation in the mind's eye of a glittering kingdom alive with glistening ships floating through the amber skies.

Some tracks take us to darker places such as the hibernation dreams of a space/time travelling

being (soul) in his capsule at the end of time that is portrayed in "The Awakening"
