This album is probably the most well known of all the Eagles' works to date, and has enjoyed massive Internetional success, even is lands as far away and estranged by language barriers as Thailand and Japan, where the song is in the top ten of all time favourite Karaoke songs in Asia.
The song is rather obscure, but is evidently about a brothel somewhere in the Californian desert where a man loses his heart body and soul (not to mention all his money). The song is about the irresistible vice of a man addicted to ladies of the night, and the passion for this vice that is driving him to return again and again.
